The Qingdao International Water Conference & Exhibition was grandly held in the West Coast New Area of Qingdao from July 2 to 4. During the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Conference on July 2, relying on its outstanding contributions and leading position in landfill leachate treatment, especially the non-evaporation technical route, SOTEC was recommended and awarded the honorary title of Leading Enterprise in Non-Evaporation Landfill Leachate Treatment over 20 Years of China’s Water Industry Development by Adi Desalination Center, the core organizer of the conference. It is the only enterprise to receive this honor in this sector at the 20th Anniversary Celebration.

As the largest and most influential water treatment event in the Asia-Pacific region, the Qingdao International Water Conference is a top-tier global water industry platform jointly initiated by the China Association for Science and Technology, Qingdao Municipal People’s Government, together with authoritative international organizations including the World Water Council (WWC) and the International Water Association (IWA), and has been held for 20 sessions to date. Centered on the theme Water – Source of Life, Foundation of Development, this year’s conference ran through July 4, featuring nearly 50 special sub-forums and over 460 professional reports across eight core thematic modules. Distinguished attendees included Wang Bo, Member of the Standing Committee of Qingdao Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor of Qingdao; Wang Xiaokang, President of China Industrial Energy Conservation and Clean Production Association; Eric Tardieu, Secretary-General of International Network of Basin Organizations and Vice Chairman of the World Water Council, as well as thousands of industry experts, scholars and entrepreneurs from home and abroad. Widely recognized as a barometer for technological advancement in water resource utilization, this award underwent multiple rounds of expert evaluation organized by Adi Desalination Center, which guarantees the professionalism and international recognition of the selection results.

SOTEC has previously been honored with awards such as the China Water Industry Star Award – Outstanding Product Award and China Outstanding Water Treatment Craftsman. This latest accolade further validates its robust strength in spearheading industrial progress on a sustained basis.

Breakthrough Enabled by Non-Evaporation Technology: SOTEC’s TLDR Technology Paves the Way for Low-Carbon Development

SOTEC’s qualification for this award is anchored in its self-developed TLDR (Total Leachate Degrade Recycle) full-quantity treatment technology for concentrated leachate via non-evaporation approaches.

This integrated process consists of pretreatment + DT high-pressure material membrane separation + ammonia recovery + heterogeneous synergistic catalytic oxidation + ultra-low-temperature drying. The treated effluent can stably satisfy the requirements specified in Table 2 or Table 3 of Standard for Pollution Control on the Landfill Site of Municipal Solid Waste (GB 16889-2008), with the solid residue rate controlled below 5%.

Compared with conventional evaporation technologies, this solution features lower operational costs, smaller footprint, shorter construction period and highly flexible modular equipment configuration, representing a pioneering leading technology domestically. It has been successfully deployed in engineering projects in Renshou, Zigong, Jianyang, Chongqing and other regions with remarkable demonstration effects.

Process Advantages

  • Genuine full-quantity treatment of leachate

  • Modular layout with high system integration

  • Stable and superior effluent quality

  • Cost-effective and high-efficiency operation

  • Low solid residue generation ratio

Applicable Scenarios

  • DTRO membrane concentrate (without biochemical treatment)

  • Leachate from aged or closed landfills (with or without biochemical pretreatment)
