Fuling Shale Gas Field Exceeds 80 Billion Cubic Meters!

Recently, good news came that the cumulative gas production of Sinopec's Fuling Shale Gas Field has exceeded 80 billion cubic meters. This milestone not only marks a major achievement in China's shale gas development but also serves as a vivid example of the deep integration of the energy industry and environmental protection technology. As a professional enterprise in the field of high-difficulty wastewater treatment, Chengdu Sotec Technology Co., Ltd. has had the privilege of participating in this national-level green energy project, providing critical technical support for the advanced treatment of shale gas produced water.

As China's first large-scale shale gas field to achieve commercial development, the Fuling Shale Gas Field has always adhered to the green development concept of "developing while protecting, and protecting while developing." In 2019, leveraging its technological accumulation and extensive practical experience in the specialty membrane treatment field, Sotec Technology successfully won the bid for the dual-membrane reduction process section of the produced water treatment project at the Fuling Shale Gas Field. The project was completed and put into operation in October 2020, with a designed treatment capacity of 2,400 cubic meters per day. It adopts the combined process route of "pretreatment + dual-membrane reduction + evaporation crystallization" to achieve advanced treatment and resource utilization of shale gas produced water.

The system has been operating stably over the long term, successfully resolving the treatment challenges of high-salinity, complex-composition produced water generated during shale gas extraction, and providing reliable water treatment assurance for the gas field's sustained stable and high production. To date, the system has been in continuous stable operation for five years, with treatment performance consistently meeting standards. It has become one of the benchmark projects for produced water treatment in China's shale gas extraction sector, contributing to the protection of the ecological and environmental safety of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
